FM on Facebook

January 15th, 2012

Buona domenica, Several people wrote that they can’t find me on Facebook.  I looked into it and it is confusing.

When you log into Facebook–and you must have an account to do so–two categories come up.  Pages and People.

Under Pages, there are several Frances Mayes entries which other people have started.  One is a “fan” page.

Under People, there’s my own Facebook account.

Please let me know if this solves the problem.  Thanks.

   Dear Frances,

   I am not good with Facebook and, besides that, I don´t like it very much. I still prefer personal relationships, big hugs, nice talks. And speaking of hugs, when will you come to Buenos Aires? We do know how to hug a good friend here, and it will be wonderfull to have you in our country! Your books are not at our bookstores, and I think it is because many people don´t know you. Why don´t you come to visit us as part of your book tour??

   Hi Frances,
   I just searched but couldn’t find you, but the above link does connect to your page. You might want to check your privacy settings on facebook. On the privacy setting page, there is a section called ‘how you connect’. In that section are the settings for how people can search for you. It needs to be set to ‘everyone’ if you want anyone/everyone to be able to find you.

     Sharyn–Thanks. I did check the privacy settings and one of them was limited so I changed it to “public.” Hope that solves the problem. Several people have set up other pages on me so it’s all a bit confusing. Frances

   Just took a peak at the FB page. We bet you will be swamped with more information than you can manage from more fans than you knew were out there. Good luck! Hope those blue eyes are still smiling in a month…
